Yaser Abdel-Alim Metwally, MD, FRCSC, attended the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams Universityin Cairo, Egypt, and received his medical degree in 1986. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency (1986-1991) and Master’s Degree in Orthopedic Surgery at the same teaching venue (1990) prior to starting working at El-Shafa Specialized Hospital (1991 – 1993). Upon relocating to the United States, Dr. Metwally served his general surgery residency (PGY I-II) at the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals in Chicago, IL (1993-1995). Furthermore, he conducted his orthopedic surgery residency (PGY III-VI) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada (1996-2000). In addition, he completed his fellowship training in reconstructive surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN (2000-2001). Dr. Metwally received board certification in orthopedic surgery from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He remains a member of the American Medical Association, the Oregon Medical Association, and the Jackson County Medical Society and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
