Yaser Abdel-Alim Metwally, MD, FRCSC, attended the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams Universityin Cairo, Egypt, and received his medical degree in 1986. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency (1986-1991) and Master’s Degree in Orthopedic Surgery at the same teaching venue (1990) prior to starting working at El-Shafa Specialized Hospital (1991 – 1993). Upon relocating to the United States, Dr. Metwally served his general surgery residency (PGY I-II) at the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals in Chicago, IL (1993-1995). Furthermore, he conducted his orthopedic surgery residency (PGY III-VI) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada (1996-2000). In addition, he completed his fellowship training in reconstructive surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN (2000-2001). Dr. Metwally received board certification in orthopedic surgery from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He remains a member of the American Medical Association, the Oregon Medical Association, and the Jackson County Medical Society and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.  Dr. Metwally dedicates his spare time to playing golf, fishing, and being with his family.
